25th October

I was trying to work from home today but all of the main objects I needed were reserved by others.
We found a solution though and now we all have each others student numbers so if it happens again we can go in as someone else just to release objects. We are all 'architects' on this project anyway so we just created easier access, especially when were working separately and something we really need to work on is blocked.

Once this was fixed we also had problems of all our objects were missing, including all the furniture, windows, doors, garden. Everyone on the BIM server seemed to have the same problem, however a few hours later we had loaded the missing libraries and everything we had already done was returned automatically and we had more options to choose from when adding elements.

Once everything i needed was released i started putting the second story on. At the last minute i decided to change it to a mezzanine style. Because the top floor will be the lounge and the kitchen/dinning is below it opens up the communal areas a bit more.

I also made custom stairs, not to different from the standard ones, as I simply wanted them to go straight along the side wall.
The room was to be fairly simple so and a little bit formal, so I put bookshelves, with books along the whole side wall, opposite the stairs and added a table with three pot plants.
I also put in a balustrade made of glass panels and a wooded frame that matches the wood on the floor and window frames. I chose the glass so in renders there is a glimpse of the living space below.

First basic renders

Since these renders we decided to make the whole front wall glass from floor to ceiling.
I have also just used basic materials, as it was decided that some one will to the interior materials all at once. I also put the spotlights in purely because I like their effects in renders.
