The logistics of this project proved slightly more difficult than expected, primarily due to not being able to access the server from home, and having limited access to the lab/hub, as I live and hour away and have to make time in between work. Never the less, I feel as a group we managed to produce the result we intended, albeit not in the manner we proposed.

The roles I initially agreed upon were the design of an additional outdoor courtyard, reworking the mesh and site elements, and aiding in rendering process. It became apparent however, as time quickly passed that our means of delegating roles would need to be altered, to adapt to our own skill set and time constraints, and allow everyone to work more independently as a result. I tend to not know where to stop, once I’m in the mindset to get it done, I want to fix everything I see as needing to be fixed. I had to stop myself here knowing others were going to be working on those areas later.

The roles I ultimately undertook varied to those proposed primarily due to changes in the design of the house, and the logistic of having 2 or more people working in the model at the same time, at times trying to access the same elements at the same time. So, with internal elements being worked on it would have been difficult to also do this at the same time.

Instead I undertook primarily external elements. I reconstructed the site whilst the missing objects and textures were recovered. I then returned to create the vineyard from a site sketch, and also a driveway.

I continued to extend the house with the addition of a garage in keeping with the form of the building, and a rear deck.

Finally I reconstructed the roof elements using complex profiles and a combination of library and imported gdl objects.

I aided in altering internal elements where I noticed anomalies, and also rearranged the ground level living/kitchen to adapt to the new deck.

On the whole I think this has been a useful experience, and a good introduction to remote collaborative design. Difficulties in getting to campus at times that suited the rest of the group meant I had to rely on communication technologies and I believe it is possible to be equally productive from a remote situation. As a whole, it is quite clear that collaborative design allows each member s strengths to be utilised to improve the final product.
I feel as though I have made a significant contribution to this project. Time constraints in the last week made it difficult for me to input as much as I would have liked in the presentation aspects, however I believe as a team we all contributed equally at various stages of the project, and the final product represents the use of skills with which we are each most confident.
