Thursday 14th October- Progress Post

Last week, we each undertook research into precedents we wish to use for our design. As our model is already created the improvements we think will best enhance the design include changing the overall style and adding rooms to the home. We talked about what we think the overall design should look like and then allocated different parts of the site and or home for each member to develop.

Alison Brearley- I will be project leader and will develop this blog, guide the progress of the design, do final interior design on three rooms of the the model and produce two renders. For this blog I will do the summaries of things we did each week and do the design and final layout.

Lauren Maher- Lauren will do landscaping. She will also help me with the blogs design, layout and posts. Laurens great at renders so will be do what needs to be done on the final layout of those. She will also help with interiors and final completition of the final model.

Nasser Bazuhair- Will do analogue presentation. He will do the design and completion of that. He is also in charge of materials to ensure they all match within the house.

Claire Broderick- Is in charge of the extension on the upper floor and and fenestration and doors within the house. She will also complete the interior design for upstairs and will do allot of the landscaping.

Scott Finlayson- Is in charge of final renders and the over-all cohesion of the project including fixing errors in the build, ensuring pieces fit accurately together and helping achieve overall cohesion in the design. He is also assisting in the final analogue presentation of the design.

Callum Rowley- Callum will be doing parts of the landscape including adding vineyards and roads to the site. He is in charge of adjusting the site to visually suit the model. He also will make the house accessible due to the changes in site and adjust rooms and help with the addition.

Introduction to the Project.

Formation of the group via facebook....

This is Group 12’s blog documenting the creation of our collaborative teamwork ArchiCAD design.

Our Group consists of me, Alison Brearley, Lauren Maher, Clare Broderick, Nasser Bazuhair, Callum Rowley and Scott Finlayson.

Our design is located in the Pokolbin region of Newcastle. Surrounded by vineyards to the east and west, the site has a consistent slope and extends about 500m North- South and 170m East- West.
SITE PLAN OFF GOOGLE EARTH

Our project requires us to alter an existing ArchiCAD model by making adjustments to things like landscape, interior design, building envelope and overall style.

Based on details of the site, we have opted for a regional rationalist approach to the style of our building. This means taking influence from Architects such as Glenn Murcutt, Tadao Ando and Peter Stutchbury.
However, we really like the asthetic of deconstructivism and have taken stylistic influence from Architects like Zaha Hadid. We are going to try and blend the two styles together.
